The ACT Framework: You Stay in the Driver's Seat
Most AI prompting feels like guesswork. ACT changes that — giving educators a repeatable, human-centered structure that keeps cognitive ownership exactly where it belongs: with you.
A — Act As
Define the AI's persona. Who is this person? Is it a master teacher with 20 years of experience? Or is it someone who has the energy of a first year teacher? Do you want them to be excited, anxious, grumpy, ambitious, or…?
Give a detailed description of this person or persona.
C — Context
Context matters MOST. You live in your classroom. You know what kind of variables you're dealing with. Tell the AI these things (without revealing personal info!):
-class name, general makeup, description of who you teach
-what have you already covered, and what's next?
-what does/does not work for this group?
-what does the AI need to know to give you the best possible results?
T — Task
What do you want it to do? Create a worksheet? Make a spreadsheet? Develop a slideshow for a topic you want to present tomorrow? Give it detailed parameters and explanations about what you want to see when it starts replying.
